We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Landlords and property management companies remain responsible for the tenant, owner, and property records they capture on the platform.

Depending on how you use UnitConnect, we may hold:

• Account details such as name, email, phone number, password, role, and company name.
• Google account information if you sign in with Google (name and email returned by Google).
• Property, unit, lease, rent, maintenance, document, message, and listing information that you or your company add.
• Tenant invitation codes, staff invitations, saved listings, and listing enquiries.
• Support messages sent through the contact form.
• Billing details for UnitConnect packages, including the package you choose and payment status from PayFast.
• Technical session information needed to keep you signed in.

We use personal information to:

• Create and secure your account, including Google sign-in and email confirmation.
• Run landlord, company, staff, and tenant dashboards.
• Send service emails such as account confirmation, password reset, staff invitations, rent reminders, and replies to contact messages.
• Process UnitConnect package payments through PayFast when you agree to a paid plan.
• Show public listings that a landlord or manager has chosen to publish.
• Improve reliability and prevent abuse of the service.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use tenant rent records to market to tenants.

Transactional emails come from UnitConnect (typically noreply@unitconnect.co.za). Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see them. Listing replies from a landlord or manager are sent from their own email, not from UnitConnect.

PayFast is used for UnitConnect packages paid by landlords and property managers. After the 30-day free trial, if you have set up PayFast and have not cancelled, PayFast charges the selected package automatically. Tenant rent is recorded on the platform and is never marked paid automatically. UnitConnect is not the tenant’s rent collection provider unless we clearly say otherwise in product.

We share information only as needed to operate the service:

• Supabase, for hosting accounts and application data.
• Resend, for sending service emails.
• Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
• PayFast, if you pay for a UnitConnect package.
• People in your organisation who already have access, such as company staff you invite.

We may also disclose information if South African law requires it.

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember a short-lived Google sign-in choice, and protect the session. These are needed for the site to work. You can clear them in your browser, which will sign you out.

We keep account and property records while the account is active. If an account expires after the trial and read-only period, we may delete or anonymise data after we no longer need it for the service, billing, or legal duties. You can export account data from Billing while the account is available.

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or object to certain processing, as POPIA allows. Use the contact form or phone number above. Tenants should also speak to their landlord or manager about records that organisation captured.

We use access controls, encrypted connections, and role-based dashboards so tenants only see the unit they were invited to. No online service is perfectly secure. Tell us promptly if you think an account was used without permission.

UnitConnect is for adult landlords, managers, staff, and tenants. Do not create an account for a child.

We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of UnitConnect after an update means you accept the revised policy.
