Terms of use
Last updated 7 September 2026
These terms govern use of UnitConnect at unitconnect.co.za. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
The service
UnitConnect is a property management platform for South Africa. Landlords and property management companies can manage properties, units, tenants, rent records, maintenance, documents, and listings. Tenants use UnitConnect only for the unit they were invited to occupy, and they use it free of charge.
We provide software and hosting. We are not a law firm, estate agency, or the landlord of properties listed by customers unless we say so in writing.
Accounts
You must give accurate details and keep your login safe. You may register as a landlord, a property management company, a staff member invited by a company, or a tenant with a valid invitation or property code.
Super Admin access is not available through public registration. Staff invitations are sent to a specific email address and must be accepted by that person.
Packages and billing
Landlords and companies start with a free period of 30 days. Set up PayFast during the trial if you want to continue. After 30 days, if you have set up PayFast and have not cancelled in Billing, PayFast charges the selected package and then on the billing interval you chose.
Paid packages are for landlords and companies, not tenants. Current launch ranges include Starter (1–20 units), Growth (21–50 units), Professional (up to 100 units), and Enterprise by arrangement. Annual billing saves 15% where shown on Pricing.
Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. If you cancel after a paid period has started, access continues until that period ends. If you never set up PayFast, the account becomes read-only for 30 days so you can export data, then access expires. Tenant rent is not billed as a UnitConnect package.
Rent records
Rent on UnitConnect stays pending, paid, partial, or overdue only when a person updates it or a future payment provider confirms it. The platform never marks rent paid on its own.
Listings and enquiries
If you publish a listing, you confirm that you are allowed to advertise that property and that the information is accurate. Enquiries may be stored in your messages. Replies you send from your own email client are your responsibility.
Your content and data
You keep ownership of the property, tenant, and document information you upload. You grant UnitConnect a licence to host and display it as needed to provide the service. You must have the right to upload identity documents, leases, and similar files.
Do not upload unlawful content, or use the service to spam, scrape, or attempt to access another person’s account or unit.
Acceptable use
You may not reverse engineer the service, overload it, share login details, or impersonate another person. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or puts other users at risk.
Availability
We aim to keep UnitConnect available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, third-party outages, or events beyond our control may affect the service.
Liability
Use of UnitConnect is at your own risk, to the extent South African law allows. We are not liable for lost rent, tenancy disputes, listing outcomes, or decisions you make from information on the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to exclude, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy policy.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
